I became a Christian at a young age and after some time in the water industry worked with a Christian charity with students, studied theology and served as a pastor of a Baptist church. It was while I was preaching through the book of Acts in my previous church that I became convinced that I needed to lay aside my ministry there and give myself to church planting in Brighton. I moved down to the city in 2021 with Naomi and our four children. We now live just off the Ditchling Road where I can often be seen walking – or rather being taken for a walk – by our slightly crazy Springer Spaniel, Albus around the Hollingbury Golf Course. I am passionate about helping people meet the living Jesus today and serves Grace Church for our progress and joy in the faith.

I come from a very complicated, mixed race family. Ten full, half and step siblings – like I said, complicated. Dad said he was Catholic, mum – CofE. I didn’t know the difference. We never went to church or anything like that.

As a teen I was ‘off the leash’. A second Crown Court appearance was a turning point. I began a real search which led me into and out of Rastafarian and then Jehovah’s Witnesses – I was still lost. I’d been reading the Bible for a few years and was mesmerised by Jesus. I didn’t want to search for Him all my life, I wanted to know Him and serve Him.
One night in May 1992 I cried out to Him in prayer, saying, “it’s up to you, take me or leave me.” That night Jesus broke into my life in the most extraordinary way. My search was over and at last I could spend my life knowing and serving Him.

Serving Him is an adventure. It brought me to Brighton in 1996 to help found a new church. He blessed me with an amazing wife Georgie, four beautiful daughters, three sons in law, two sons entrusted to us as teenagers and six grandchildren. And now, again be part of founding another new church! My passion is knowing Jesus, making Him known to those around and, at this time, being a part of His Church Family at Grace Church Brighton.

I grew up in West Kent. As a young child, I’d reluctantly attended church with my family, but things changed when I turned 14. Years had passed since attending church regularly, but my new youth group taught the Bible clearly and patiently answered my many questions. By God’s grace, it was there that I first understood who Jesus claimed to be and the significance of what he’d done for me on the cross in love. After acknowledging Jesus as Lord of my life, I grew in my faith under the teaching of God’s Word the Bible, learning to surrender more of my former life in obedience to the truth. I went on to study Philosophy at the University of Sussex in Brighton. This led me to further pursue what the Bible taught about the world and what living as a recipient of God’s grace should look like. My love for the Lord, his people, and those yet to know him continues to grow today as I train for vocational ministry as a pastor and support students and young adults of Grace Church Brighton. I’m married to Gemma, and our first daughter was born in 2022. We’re expecting our second daughter in June, 2024. I regularly play badminton, walk, read theology, and enjoy crime dramas with Gemma. Though my faith journey began with a pursuit of the truth, I’m learning to experience and pursue a life of love for and joy in Jesus as my God and Saviour.

I became a Christian as a teenager while attending a small village church in Kent. After coming to Brighton as a student in 2005, I spent over a decade teaching Maths to secondary school students in the city. I’m married to Liz and we have two young children who are full of life! Since becoming a Christian I have felt called to full time teaching ministry. God has wonderfully opened the door in an amazing way to study theology while serving at Grace Church. I’m responsible for our 6pm Sunday evening sessions. These times aim to equip our people in knowing God well from scripture, and help people live for Christ today!

In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time at the beach with the family, and brewing my own beer.
